In the third year of the bachelor he did an internship at the Department of Urology at the Academic Hospital Maastricht (AZM) on ‘Intrinsic regulatory mechanisms of the urinary bladder’. In 2011 he started his Master ‘Biomedical Science’ at Maastricht University and chose the specialization ‘Oncology and Developmental biology (GROW)’ in his second year. In the first year of the Master he did an internship at the department of Respiratory Medicine at Maastricht University on ‘Functional role of leptin in respiratory immune responses after smoke exposure’. During his second year of the master he did his master thesis on ‘Oxidative stress mechanisms induced by oxidants and non-genotoxic carcinogens in the formation of liver cancer’ at the department of Toxicogenomics at Maastricht University.
On the 1st of September 2013 he started working as a PhD-student in the area toxicogenomics on the project entitled: ’MeDIP-seq (Methylated DNA Immunoprecipitation Sequencing)’. In this project we will investigate the role of an oxidative stressor on epigenetics.
